Crazy Night in Cape Town

Have you ever felt like you just wanted to get out a bit and have fun in Cape Town, but you totally underestimated the evening, and its turns out greater than you’d expect it to be. This is what happened to me this past weekend. I decided to get out after a long first semester at varsity and just wanted to let my hair down and dance... and that’s just what happened, just much better.

We didn’t really have any direction as to where we were headed, just that we would end up in town. My sisters friend tipped us off that Cubana was having a Doctor Doctor party. I’m not really a lover of Cubana in Somerset Road but we didn’t have a specific spot so decided to make Cubana our first stop.

This time around it was very different; different crowd, foreign people and there was just this energy about Cubana. The people, it felt like we all came together under one roof from different cultures, continents, countries, race, it was absolutely a magnificent sight to watch.

There were an old couple at the bar, the man enjoying his whisky while his wife enjoyed her vodka, but all very friendly and sociable people. IF one had to cut out the foreign people it would just be like any other Saturday night at Cubana; highty- tighty and mighty (the money bags) where everybody observes everybody… boring.
This night was quite special because we met so many foreigners from England, Egypt, Lebanon, India, many of which came from the Eastern side of life and the earth. We had the time of our lives. It was absolute fun; just being able to go out have fun with everyone feels like we are all family.

The barmen were putting up a marvellous show with fire making cocktails with flying shakers, and the music and the setting all tied in to complete the ambiance of a spectacular evening. Even South Africa’s big hit “make the circle bigger”, well believe it or not, they were all singing and dancing to the beat, was quite hilarious at the time... hehehe.
I think this is just the beginning of endless party nights in Cape Town as we count down the days, minutes and seconds to the soccer world cup! It’s here people, what are we waiting for… lets embrace, meet, network, socialize, fall in love, but be sure to be a part of this amazing experience that’s busy taking the city under its toes for months to come. Ayoba-ness ;)
Until next time… xoxo

  1. It seems like you had a really great night. I have had so many fun nights at Cubana but I'm sure if I was there on the night you have just described, it would have topped all of the fun times I have had at Cubana.
